Sony's PS4 exclusive, Spider-Man, has gone gold

It always makes me excited when I get to speak about games that have completed their development cycles. Better yet, games I cannot wait to play that have finished their development cycles. Last night Insomniac Games took to social media to announce that the highly anticipated PS4 exclusive has gone gold. For those who don't know what that means, the game has now completed its development cycle and is on its way to the manufacturing process where it will be put onto shiny discs, boxed and shipped around the world.

We are pleased to announce that #SpiderManPS4 has GONE GOLD for its worldwide release on September 7th. Thanks to @PlayStation and @MarvelGames for their support in the creation of this original Spider-Man adventure.

The announcement comes ahead of the game's 7 September 2018 release date. The game follows the story of an older Peter Parker, Miles Morales and even a playable Mary Jane. While the game has no direct connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can expect it to pack some noticeable villains and heroes as hinted in the last trailer that totally hinted Iron Man in my opinion.

Spider-Man is one of my most anticipated games of the year and if you have a PS4 console then you are probably in the same boat here. I played the game back at E3 and it was great. Its traversal system, great combat and open world are going to make for a much-needed revamp on the Spider-Man video game series.

If you have a few extra thousands of rands lying around then you can also look into getting the Limited Edition Spider-Man PS4 Pro which comes in the usual 1TB model with a copy of the game. The big difference is the design of the PS4 Pro is red and it has a giant white Spider-Man logo on the front of it. It makes me drool a bit. Speaking of PS4 Pro, you can expect the game to make use of 4K rendering as well as HDR on the console so if want to experience that then best pre-order the console before its too late.

Take a look at the latest trailer for the game below and let us know if you are picking the game up on day one.
